Who discovered Electricity?

Even the ancient Greeks were aware of an attraction caused by rubbing fur on amber, some two thousand years ago. English physician, William Gilbert was the first to coin the term Electric from the Greek word ‘electron.’ It is generally believed that Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity, in fact he just established a relation between lightening and electricity with his famous ‘kite experiment.’ An Italian scientist Alessandra Volta made voltaic pile in 1800 which was later called the electric battery. It was Volta who found that a chemical reaction could produce electric current. But the electricity became viable for use in 1831 when British scientist Michael Faraday invented electric dynamo.
