Caesium or cesium is a chemical element. Its chemical symbol is Cs and its atomic number is 55. It is silvery-gold soft alkali metal.

It was discovered in 1860 by German chemist, Robert Wilhelm Eberhard Bunsen and German physicist, Gustav Robert Kirchhoff. They both worked together and discovered Caesium by acquiring newly originated method of flame spectroscopy.
