Among the modern discoverers, it was Arendt Corssen, who is credited with discovering the Schuylkill River though the Delaware Indian tribes had been living along the banks of the river since long. They have named it, “ganshohawanee” which meant ‘rushing waters’. The river runs through most of the state of Pennsylvania where the city of Philadelphia is situated on its banks.
