9 Metis or 1974 QU2 is an asteroid. It is a stupendous, thick and stony asteroid of main-belt asteroids. Its surface is made up of metallic nickel-iron and silicates. Its diameter is about 200km. It contains guesstimated just about half a percent of the total mass of the asteroid belt.

It was discovered on 25 April 1848 by Irish astronomer, Andrew Graham. He discovered his only asteroid “9 Metis” at Markree Observatory in Ireland.
