Milky Way galaxy is commonly called as Milky Way. It is the home galaxy of the earth and solar system. The Solar System lies in the Milky Way galaxy. It is a spiral galaxy which contains dust, stars and disk of gas.

It has three parts such as the disk, the central bulge and the halo. It has an about 400 billion stars and thought to be about 13 billion years old. It was first discovered by Democritus, a famous ancient Greek philosopher. In 1610, Galileo Galilei used a telescope and proved that Milky Way is made up of numerous huge faint stars.
