Citric acid is known as a weak organic acid. It is found copiously in citrus fruits. It was discovered by Jabir Ibn Hayyan, an Iranian alchemist in around eighth century. It was first separated by Carl Wilhelm Scheele, a famous Swedish chemist in 1784. It was obtained by him from lemon juice.
