Chicken pox is an infectious viral disease caused by Varicella Zoster virus or Herpes Zoster virus. It is common children’s disease spread easily through coughing or sneezing of ill persons. It was first recognized by Persian physician, Muhammad ibn Zakariya Razi.

It is believed that in the mid 1500s an Italian doctor, Giovanni Filippo first described about Varicella now known as chicken pox disease. William Heberden, a British physician proved that chicken pox is an absolutely separate disease in the 1700’s.
