Cadmium is a chemical element. Its atomic number is 48 and it is denoted by chemical symbol Cd. It is bluish-white soft metal. It was discovered in 1817 by two German chemists simultaneously. It was discovered by Friedrich Stromeyer and Karl Samuel Leberecht Hermann. Friedrich Stromeyer discovered it when he examined zinc compounds. Karl Hermann discovered cadmium from zinc oxide.
