Ankylosing spondylitis is a common autoimmune disease. It causes pain in the joints of the body between pelvis and spine. It also affects the other organs of the body.

Its main symptoms are pain in the eyes, loss of vision, redness, photophobia etc. it is also known as Bekhterev’s disease, Marie Strumpell disease or Bekhterev syndrome. It was first discovered in 1893 by famous Russian neurophysiologist, Vladimir Mikhailovich Bekhterev. He was regarded as the Father of Objective Psychology.
